Additional pointers for distinguishing: 1 vs 6, 3 vs 7, 3 vs 8, 5 vs 9

Alliances (1 vs 6)

This refers to the fact that 1 tends to take a more solitary approach to implementing their principles, since the ideal originated within them and they know best. 6s, however, are prone to forming alliances and reaching a consensus with their internalized committee before implementing their principles. In 1, look for: emphasis on moral violation and subsequent consequences. In 6, look for: emphasis on betrayal and being conspired against.

Metrics (3 vs 7)

Whereas both tend to be active go-getters, 3s are oriented to realizing tangible external measures of success, whilst 7s prefer to creatively play with internal ideas of success, meaning that 7s are more likely to transcend hierarchies than to find a way that is compatible with them. 7s are also ultimately pleasure-centric, whereas 3s are image-centric, which means that if it comes down to a trade-off between the two, 7s will choose pleasure and 3s will choose the tedium of maintaining their image. In 3s, look for: success according to quantitative metrics, rising through hierarchies through adaptation to the values of a hierarchy, emotions bounded by image-consciousness, energy peaks in "finish line" stage. In 7s, look for: big ideas that transcend/sidestep hierarchies, subtly authority-subversive execution of ideas, energy peaks in "possibility" stage.

Expectations (3 vs 8)

3s conform to expectations, and only display unconventionality after having meant the "standard." 8s, in their general intolerance of arbitrary constraints, delight in overthrowing conventional expectations regardless of whether they have meant the presupposed standard. Both can be aggressive, but only 8s are aggressive/antagonistic to the point where they look "bad" in their self-identified roles.

Lexicality (5 vs 9)

Moment-to-moment, 5 is highly lexical in their thinking process, preferring to isolate and compartmentalize every aspect of their experiences. This means their thoughts are embedded in the hyperspecific "language" (i.e., lexicon) they have developed to express the concept. Each "word" (i.e., morpheme) in the lexicon has a clear and unambiguous meaning and relation to other "words." Look for: explication of detailed propositional relationships to similar and dissimilar topics, hyperspecific and unadaptable notions of concepts, clear/local comprehension of ideational consequences, divisive tendency.

Moment-to-moment, 9 is highly impressionistic, preferring a nonlinear and drifting thinking style that aims to obtain a holistic grasp of their thought object. It is very vague, and it takes more effort to formalize and verbalize complex thoughts in a way that doesn't compromise their holistic vision and intuitive insight. Exact relationships between items take longer to explicate because there is a natural inclination to commonalize disparate components instead of accepting their differences as disjunctive. Look for: impressionistic floating, difficulty literalizing complex thought, vague/global comprehension of ideational consequences, merging tendency.
